Course Information

The aim of this qualification is to give practising or aspiring team leaders a solid foundation in their development as a team leader.

You will attend a fun packed and interactive classroom course, where you will work with like minded peers in a safe and supportive environment.

You will study a minimum of 2 topics and these will be published in the course factsheet.

This course is intended for people working within a business environment as reflection and work-based experience is a major part of the lessons and the assessments. The course covers some of the main issues in the role of team leaders:

Leading your work team – you will gain an understanding of the difference between leadership and management and understand a range of leadership styles, their benefits and potential impact on individuals and performance 

Methods of communicating in the workplace – you will gain an understanding of the importance of effective communication in the workplace and how to use methods to communicate effectively in the workplace

Improving performance of the work team – you will gain an understanding of the organisational goals of the team and how to motivate team members to achieve these.

Using Resources Effectively and Efficiently in the workplace – you will gain an understanding of the efficient and effective use of resources.

Understand effective team working – you will gain an understanding of effective teams. 

Planning and Monitoring Work – you will learn how to work within the organisational guidelines to achieve team goals, how to plan and allocate work and you will learn how to monitor your team’s performance

Understanding change in the workplace – you will gain an understanding of the causes of change in the workplace and you will learn how to support the implementation of change in the workplace

Managing yourself – you will learn how to use effective personal time management to achieve team goals and how to manage your own stress

Induction and Coaching in the Workplace – you will learn how to integrate new members into your team and how to coach individuals in the team

Entry Requirements

There are no formal entry requirements, but participants will normally be either practising or aspiring team leaders with the opportunity to meet the assessment demands, and have a background that will enable them to benefit from the programme.

An informal telephone conversation or email will usually suffice to ensure that this qualification is suitable for you.

Course Duration

Start Date: 04/03/24

Finish Date: 19/04/24

The course is planned for 2 full days, each lesson is 6 hours in duration and planned for starting at 09.00 and finishing at 16.00

It is suggested that you allocate at least 3 hours per week for your study to ensure that you progress through the course at a reasonable rate.
